ClearTech lamps are genuinely different than other lamps. The raw ingredients that go into a ClearTech lamp are fundementally different than what you find in a Wolff®, Cosmedico® or other lamp. It starts with the glass.

We first licensed the technology used to make Sol Glass™. This is a very special, patented glass that was invented by Light Tech, Inc. of Budapest, Hungary. It is much more transparent to ultraviolet than regular lamp glass, particularly in the UVB region. Before ClearTech, you could only get this technology is a very select number of lamps designed for tanning beds in the $10,000-$20,000 range. Because of our volume, ClearTech can bring this revolutionary technology to the masses at a down to earth price.

Keep in mind: most tanning lamps use the same lamp glass that you make office lights and common fluorescent lamps from. It was never developed for transmitting ultraviolet, only visible light. While it does an adequate job, it falls far short when compared to Sol Glass™ ClearTech lamps are not the same as Sol Glass™ lamps, they just use the same glass.

Next we come to the phosphors. Regular lamp phosphors, like you would find in any non-ClearTech lamp, would have been adequate if blended specially for this new glass. For our ClearTech lamps, being "adequate" is not enough. We worked with LTI to develop a brand new generation of lamp phosphors that not only perform better when used with Sol Glass™, but they are more environmentally friend because they don't contain any heavy metals such as lead or cadmium. These next generation phosphors allowed us to reduce the mercury required by almost 50%, further enhancing their environmental profile.

Our goal was to create the highest performing tanning lamps, and we were able to do so in a responsible way. The new phosphors simply outperform the older style blends, and while they cost more, they have a lower overall TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) because they resist breaking down as fast, so they last up to twice as long as traditional tanning lamps. Your net expense and maintenance is significantly lower. By spending just a little more today, you will reduce your overall costs tomorrow, and every day after that.

There are other major differences as well, from the gas pressure to the inert gasses chosen, as well as a special filament designed to take full advantage of this entirely new tanning lamp technology. The glass is so clear, we were able to dial-in the exact frequencies we wanted for optimal tanning, while we actually REDUCED the frequencies from 320nm to 350nm, which lies within the region that is responsible for wrinkles. Other lamps simply can't manipulate the ultraviolet output this way. This is how a 100 watt ClearTech can deliver more UVA than many 160 watt lamps using the old technology.

Quality isn't an accident. It took over 5 years to develop the glass, two years of working with different phosphors, and a full year of field trials to make ClearTech lamps what they are.
