SunMaster is owned by the Pierce family, who entered the industry in 1985. Our priorities are simply different than a huge corporation, and we are not beholden to any stockholders. We take our responsibility to the environment serious and we always have. This will likely mean that SunMaster will never become the largest company in our industry, but that has never been our goal. Our goal is to take of our family, our employees, our customers and to do so with the highest level of corporate responsibility and accountability.

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse We recycle all broken lamps and hazardous materials to insure that no harmful chemicals or heavy metals have the chance to enter the environment. We also recycle the majority of excess packaging and cardboard from incoming products to create our own packing material. Even excess copy paper is used in this fashion. We are always looking for new ways to recycle more, and throw away less.

We developed and brought to market the first energy efficient 16 lamp bed that plugged into a standard 15 amp 120 volt circuit. Then an 18 lamp model, and eventually a 24 lamp model, all running on a regular 15 amp circuit and using little more power than a common hair dryer. These use from 30% to 50% less electricity than traditional ballasts. These electronics cost more, but they perform better and are more friendly to the enviroment as they use less electricity and are PCB-free. In spite of the claims of some manufacturers that they are the only ones to use solid state electronics, SunMaster has ONLY used solid state, energy efficient electronics since day one. It is nice to see that a few companies are starting to catch up.

Keeping it clean ClearTech lamps use about 50% less mercury than regular lamps, yet deliver superior results. They are also the first lamps to use the newest generation of ultraviolet phosphors inside. These contain no lead and no cadmium, another harmful heavy metal found in many electronics and computer parts. No other lamp is lower in heavy metals, and none even comes close. And while tanning lamps are responsible for only a tiny fraction of a percentage of our common pollution problems, it is still everyone's responsibility to recycle, reduce and reuse whenever possible.

ClearTech lamps last up to 1600 hours in average use. This means you change lamps about half as often, and cut your disposal by 50%. Not only does this end up costing you less per session than any generic lamp, but it reduces the maintenance involved and the cost to properly dispose of the lamps each time. Just think: if every tanning salon switched to ClearTech, we could cut the amount of tanning lamps being disposed of by a full 50%, instantly.

It's up to you. Of course, the most important role of keeping mercury and heavy metals out of the landfill (and eventually, the water supply) falls upon YOU, the salon owner. Never throw tanning lamps in the dumpster, always take them to your local hazardous waste facility. This insures the materials are recycled and have no chance to enter the food chain or water supply.

Our goal is to offer you choices that make it easy to be environmentally friendly. What you do with those choices is up to you.
